Workhorse offers
pneumatic automatic press package |
 |
|
Workhorse Products of
Phoenix, AZ, offers automatic screen printing press
packages designed to meet any budget, space
constraint or production need. Its Pneumatic Package
No. 1 is centered around the Freedom
six-color/eight-station press.
This entry-level machine is perfect for the manual
shop looking to automate. Freedom’s fast indexing
speed, simple-to-use controls and precise
microregistration ensure that setups are as easy as
with a manual.
To keep
up with the production rate of the Freedom, the
Powerhouse electric quartz PQ3011 dryer is ideal.
This oven can output up to 400-500 pieces per hour
using
medium-wave IR elements
that transmit heat more quickly than conventional
ceramic panels.
The Point
1000 screen exposure unit provides high-resolution
screens at an affordable price by bringing together
a 1,000-watt halogen point light source that
captures halftones and fine lines while the UV
fluorescent lights speed exposure. The Flashback
flash cure allows you to print, flash, and cool all
on the same head.
The
Wash-It screen reclaiming sink is built at waist
height and made of waterproof steel. Rounding out
this package are optional platens that come in
adult, youth, and sleeve sizes. A wide range of
packages are available. Workhorse also will custom
create any package to meet your needs.

Workhorse offers
large format reclaiminG sink |
.jpg) |
Workhorse of Phoenix, AZ, now offers a larger
version of its popular reclaiming booth. The
double-wide Wash-It Screen Wash-Out Sink measures
24” deep by 52” wide, compared to the standard booth
measuring 24” deep by 32” wide. This larger model is
ideal for washing two standard automatic 23” X 31”
screens or a single large-format screen. It is made
of sturdy steel construction, has a translucent back
window and comes standard with two screen racks.
The translucent back window allows for
natural light to pass through making it easier to
see the design when developing and also to see
missed spots when cleaning the screen. A light can
easily be mounted on or behind the sink for enhanced
visibility. An optional squeegee rack can be
purchased and can hold up to eight squeegees at a
time for cleaning and drying.

workshop, and Showroom Tour Video |
 |
 |
 |
|
You could win up to $1,000 worth of Workhorse
equipment, parts or service by simply creating a
2-minute testimonial video and posting it on
YouTube. To enter the Workhorse Video Testimonial
Contest, simply create a video that showcases your
current piece of Workhorse equipment. Talk about
what features you like best and how the equipment
has helped you build a profitable business. The
video must be between 2 and 4 minutes long and
demonstrate your competency on the equipment. The
deadline is Monday, June 24. Winners will be chosen
in each of five categories. Money may be spent on
anything Workhorse offers. Prizes include a $1,000
credit for a video about the Javelin, Falcon, or
Freedom automatic press or $500 for a Mach manual
press or accessories. For complete rules, go online.
On Friday, July 13
and Sat., July 14, Workhorse Products is hosting a
beginner’s workshop on how to start a T-shirt screen
printing business at its facility in Phoenix, Ariz.
This hands-on class will be taught by Terry Combs, a
veteran screen printer and educator with more than
30 years experience printing thousands of shirts and
training thousands of students.
Day one starts with an explanation of what a
screen is and by the end of the second day all
attendees will have pulled a squeegee and printed a
full-color simulated process design on a black
shirt. Students also will degrease and coat a
screen, set up a multi-color job, and learn about
printing plastisol transfers, specialty inks, art
preparation and more.
In addition to the technical aspects of
screen printing, Combs also covers how to start up a
business, how to find customers, and other
day-to-day business topics. The class is geared to
present a lot of information in a fun,
conversational, interactive learning environment.
The class runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each
day. The cost is only $395 for the first student and
$195 for additional students from the same company.
Workhorse is located at 3730 East Southern Ave.,
Phoenix, AZ 85040, and is only minutes from Phoenix
Sky Harbor Airport. There are convenient hotels
nearby. Space will be limited so register soon.
In its ongoing effort to combine top-quality
equipment with the education and training necessary
to allow printers to maximize results and profits,
Workhorse Products recently renovated its
2,500-square-foot showroom/training/printing
facility at its Phoenix headquarters.
In a two-minute video of the new showroom,
viewers are taken on a department by department
tour. It starts off in prepress and post press
showing bench and floor-model exposing units and
screen drying. It then goes on to a reclaiming
station, manual presses, flash cures, automatic
presses, and compact and full-size dryers.
It ends by showing supplies such as inks,
emulsions, materials, and chemicals with a thanks to
sponsor suppliers. It’s a great overview that allows
customers to see what’s available and evaluate the
hands-on nature of training held at the facility.
See the video on the website or YouTube.

Products has distributors throughout the United

 |
|
Many decorated apparel businesses get their start in
the school and team markets. For those shops that
are looking to expanding into other areas, Transfer
Express of Mentor, OH, has a free webinar called
“Work It—Selling to More Than Schools and Teams.”
Presented by Andy Curtis,
Transfer Express training coordinator, this
hour-long webinar is packed full of ideas and
examples of types of businesses and niches that buy
decorated apparel. He starts off by discussing four
categories of opportunities including uniforms,
giveaways, company events, and nonapparel.
He goes on to list a wide range of occupations and
niches such as restaurants, landscapers, painting,
plumbers, and auto repair to name a few. He
discusses emergency/rescue markets that include
fireman, ambulance, and police specifically

Transfer Express
offers custom neon transfers |
 |
|
Neon is back in style and Transfer Express of
Mentor, OH, offers six neon colors for creating
custom Easy Prints transfers. The colors include
neon yellow, neon pink, neon lime, neon blue, and
neon orange. These shades
look great on lights and darks, but may lose some
opacity on darker colors. To maintain brightness, it
is recommended to use white as a backing ink. Less
opacity may be fine for many customers, but the
company recommends getting samples prior to ordering
to ensure the finished product meets customer
expectations. Sample packs are available in all six
colors.
Creating a transfer is as easy as choosing a layout;
changing the text, art, and colors; and pressing it!
Design one or several variations and print them out
for your customer to choose which one he or she
likes best. Clip art and layouts designed by
industry-renowned artist Dane Clements, Great Dane
Graphics, are available for every major market
including school, sports, work, occasions, fashion,
and more. Multicolor orders placed before 3 p.m.
Eastern Standard Time, will ship in two working days
or less.

Imprintables
Warehouse debuts new video on page setup in
CorelDRAW |
 |
|
For those new to CorelDRAW, Steven Jackson, sales
and education representative for Imprintables
Warehouse of Masontown, PA, is presenting a series
of webinars this year on how to use CorelDRAW. That
series is being presented by Great Garment Graphics
online. To supplement that
series, Jackson recently published a new tutorial
that demonstrates how to open a new page, which is
the first step to creating a design. There are three
ways to open a new file, which are shown, including
the shortcut key which Jackson recommends learning
because it speeds up the process of oft-repeated
tasks. Once the new page is
opened, Jackson explains the tools available in the
dialog box that allow you to title the document,
determine where it is saved, choose the size,
orientation, color mode, and more. He also shows
how, if you hover your cursor over a function, a
description of what that tool does shows up in a
description box. Other
features he demonstrates include how to create a
multipage document, insert a page, rename a page,
and how to input changes to apply to the entire
document or individual pages. It’s a great video for
anyone just getting started in CorelDRAW. This free
video can be viewed online or at YouTube.
Imprintables Warehouse is a
full-service distributor of equipment and supplies
to create a wide range of apparel and sign graphics
including digital cutters, printer/cutters,
heat-applied materials, sign vinyl materials, and
heat presses.
